Level 1+ Trail Ratings
Located in the southwest corner of Ocotillo Wells State Vehicle Park near Borrego Springs. This Loop is a very easy trail, 1+ Difficulty. Buttes Pass road meets the 78 at about N33.15903° W116.21870°.
The Slot is a very deep and at places very narrow canyon worn in the rocks. It is popular with hikers. There is something of a parking lot and there are almost always cars there.
There used to be steep rutted descent on the vehicle trail as you continued northwest from the slot. But it has been graded and is not a big challenge as of December 2019.
