The Mazourka Canyon trail is located in the Inyo Mountains to the east of Independence and Big Pine CA. It climbs from the floor of the Owens Valley up the mountain to over 10,000 ft. then runs northward before descending to the Death Valley Road and Big Pine CA. It is rated as a 2 and provides great Photo Opportunities. On the south side of Independence take the Mazourka Canyon Rd east. When it reaches the base of the mountains it will become dirt. and is a well graded road to the top of the mountain. Follow signs to Papoose Flats. In the middle of Papoose Flats turn west at a “T” intersection then after a couple of miles see another “T” with a sign to the right directing you to the Narrows. Go right and continue several miles until you reach the Death Valley road out of Big Pine.
