There are gas stations and a sandwich shop at the meeting place.   I-8 exit 73.

On departure we'll head to the trailhead (32.639809, -116.107072) by Old Highway 80.  We'll take the trail generally southeast to the VotM area.

We'll swing up to the Elliot Mine.  I read that it was an amethyst mine.

Then we'll head northwest, then south to another segment that runs close to the boarder.  Then we'll go north, west, and north again to come back out on the Old 80.

Overall distance (from meeting place) should be about 11 miles.  Elevation will range from about 3200 to 4200 feet.
